After much thought, I decided to create a blog solely dedicated to my Lap Band story. I had been thinking about the surgery for years but only recently decided to do it because I saw my friend's success in a year. I've always been a big girl and have tried all the "diets" and healthy lifestyles combined with exercise but nothing ever worked. I've come to realize that it's simply genetics and I needed a more drastic measure.
My surgery is scheduled for January 11th, 2012. Today was Day 1 of my liquid diet. The Dr. asked me to lose 10 lbs to help shrink my liver before surgery. God help me. I've done liquid diets before but this is on a whole new level!! It's safe to say that I'm hungry, a bit weak, and have a headache! Let's hope tomorrow runs a bit more smoothly.
So there you have it. I'm a big girl with an even bigger dream!! I look forward to hopefully sharing my success story with everyone. Can't wait for this exciting new journey!!

ReplyDeleteNew follower-- welcome and best of luck to you! I found with a good protein shake I didn't get too hungry-- just bored! Hope it goes well!
ReplyDeleteThank you all so very much!! I will try to keep this blog as up-to-date as possible!! Thanks again =D
ReplyDeleteThe liquid diet was honestly the best setup for change possible. It is hell but it gets you ready to not be able to eat right after surgery! Looking forward to getting to know u! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you Elizabeth =) I feel the same way. I think it'll be easier to ease into the first and second weeks post surgery. A month without food seems a bit crazy though. Must.Stay.Focused.
ReplyDeletewhich protein shake do you use the one that my dr suggest is so expensive, i just started the process all my apppts are in jan of 2012 i am eager to get this its been a long time coming....
ReplyDeletetbbander2b: I am doing the Biriatric Advantage shakes that my doctor sells. I paid $120 for two week's worth of shakes. Each bag is $60, has 35 servings (1 week), and came with its own bottle ready to fill and shake. I liked the convenience that's why I slurged on the two bags but I'm sure muscle milk and other shakes would work well too and might be cheaper. Congrats and good luck!
