Hi everyone!! I was banded this morning at 7:30 am. I came out of my anesthesia at 8:45, took my first sips at 9, started walking by 10:20ish, and discharged at 11 am. It's been a painful day around the port. I slept most of the evening but managed to walk every time I woke up. Hence why it's 11:45pm and I'm wide awake. I took some of the liquid medicine but it was too strong for me. I wanna try to endure the pain and avoid the drugs. If it gets too painful, I'll give in.
It's amazing how this works. I don't feel hungry, just thirsty. A sip each 5 minutes isn't enough!! Lol..but it'll have to do. I will add a few pictures tomorrow.
I still don't know how I want to keep track of my progress. Any ideas? I had thought a few shots every month would work. Do you think I should take them with the same clothes? Tight? Favorite top? Help!!
Thanks again for all the support. Those that knew of the surgery have been very supportive and caring. Can't wait to go back to work and feel useful again.
xoxo
Congrats! I was banded 1/10/12 and I am almost exactly at the same starting weight as you. I was self pay too - we are going to ROCK THIS!
ReplyDeleteYes we are!!! This is soo exciting!!!
Deletedo your measurements (waist, chest, arms, thighs, etc), I wish that I had done this but never did.
ReplyDeleteHave you chosen your weekly weigh in day to keep yourself accountable?
PS: yes, some bandsters notice increased band restriction during their TOM. it's a slight increase, I can still eat.
Thank you!! I'll look for my measuring tape and guide on how to measure myself. I think I'm going to weigh in on Monday or Friday. I work most weekends so I doubt weekend eating will affect my Mondays.
DeleteI'll keep the TOM fact in mind. I have terrible weeks so I'm hoping with time, it'll affect me less and less (in terms of pain). Thanks again!! =D
Wow! Good stuff:) I look forward to watching your progress!
ReplyDeleteThank you Leigh =D Can't wait to start posting progress pictures.
DeleteWelcome to Bandland!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah G!
DeleteCongrats! I am still in the waiting process for my band! How many incisions did you end up with?
ReplyDeleteI am excited to learn from your process!!
Hi Wendy!! Thank you!! I ended up with five incisions. I'm debating if I should post a picture of what my belly actually looks like right now. It's not overwhelmingly graphic but there are four small dots and a large line where the port is.
DeleteYah! Happy to hear you are home and on your way to healing. Hope the pain subsides soon!!! I agree with monthly photos and measurements. That is what I am going to do. On the pics, take front, sides and back in the same types of clothes. To me when I see those of fellow bandsters, it is eye opening to see the transformation!! You are a knockout now, I can't wait to see you melting away :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much my fellow Lisa!!
DeleteI am feeling a bit better today. I plan on taking the monthly shots. I have to do the measurements soon so that I can keep better track of the progress. Thank you again!!
Congrats. For myself personally I picked the tightest pair of shorts & tangtop I had to do my monthly pictures, obviously as the weight came off those clothes didn't fit anymore so I had to buy new but I always wear shorts and a tang top because it seems to show EVERYTHING you cant hide LOL I took my measurements & pictures before surgery and then still 18 months out take measurements and pictures every month on the anniverary date of my surgery. Its fun to look back at pictures & even your measurements to see how far you have came.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah =D
DeleteI think I have a pair of shorts and a tight top I can wear to show my progress. I wanna make sure I wear the same clothes every month just to see the drastic changes. Thanks again for the suggestions!
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteCongrats!! I have been taking pics for every 10 pound loss (although I have not posted on here). I also use Myfitnesspal for tracking what I eat and weigh ins.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I'll keep this in mind :)
DeleteSounds like you are doing great. Welcome to the other side.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being banded!! Glad everything went well. I weigh and take pictures once a week and take measurements once a month.
